Why automated conversion leaves you with cleanup
Vectorising software traces pixels. It does not read a drawing. What comes back looks converted until you try to work in it: text arrives as scattered line fragments, a single wall becomes forty disconnected segments, curves turn into chains of tiny straight lines, everything lands on one layer, and the dimensions are decorative rather than real dimension objects. On a degraded sheet it gets worse, because faded gaps become broken geometry and annotation running through linework gets traced as part of the building. Someone still has to rebuild the sheet properly. We do that from the start, so the file you get is finished rather than half finished.
How to send us your drawings
We work entirely from files, so nothing physical changes hands. A flatbed or wide-format scan at 300–600 DPI is ideal. If you don't have a scanner, a phone photo works. Shoot straight down in even light, get the whole sheet including the title block in frame, and avoid shadow across the drawing. Angled or partial shots make dimensions unreliable, and we'll ask you to reshoot rather than guess.
Faded, skewed and damaged originals
Age, handling and repeated copying degrade linework, and reduced prints lose detail entirely. Scans are deskewed and denoised before drafting begins. Where linework has faded past reading, we flag it and confirm the interpretation with you rather than inventing geometry. Sheets that are genuinely unclear or reduced carry a $40 surcharge, confirmed before we start.
Bulk archive digitization
Whole archives (plan rooms, filing cabinets, decades of drawings for a single site) converted as a batch and standardised to one layer convention. Volume discounts apply automatically from 10 sheets, and large archives are scheduled in milestones so you get usable batches as we go rather than waiting for the whole set. Common for facilities managers, local authorities, universities, hospitals and manufacturers holding paper records for buildings still in use.

Common questions
Can I post you the original drawings?
No. We work from files only, which keeps your originals safely where they are and saves you a week of shipping. Scan them at 300–600 DPI if you can, or photograph them straight down in good light. Either is enough for us to rebuild accurately.
Can I not just use an AI vectoriser?
You will get something back quickly. The question is what you do with it: text that is not text, walls in dozens of fragments, one layer for everything, no real dimension objects. Editing that is often slower than drawing the sheet again from scratch. On faded or hand-drawn originals the tracing also inherits every flaw in the paper. We rebuild the drawing as proper geometry so nothing needs undoing, and we will convert part of one of your sheets free so you can compare the two on your own drawing.
What if the drawing has no dimensions on it?
We calibrate against a known reference on the sheet (a stated scale, a door width, a dimensioned bay) and draw everything to real-world units from there. Anything ambiguous gets flagged before delivery, so you always know which measurements are derived rather than printed.
