Your layer standard, applied to every sheet.
A converted drawing is only useful if it opens the way your office expects. We map every element onto your layer convention (names, colours, linetypes, lineweights, text styles and blocks) so files drop straight into your workflow instead of needing an afternoon of cleanup.
Standards we work to
AIA layering is our default, and it's included in every conversion at no extra cost. It's the most widely recognised convention in the US and Canada, and a file drawn on it opens sensibly in almost any office. We also work to BS 1192 conventions for UK practices and AS/NZS 1100 for Australian and New Zealand work. Tell us which you need when you order.
Your own standard instead
Send a template DWG, a CAD standards document, or just a sample file drawn the way you like it, and we'll match it across the whole set: layer names, colours, linetypes, text styles, dimension styles and block naming. Consistency across sheets matters more than any single sheet, especially on large sets.
What you get
- Layer names, colours, linetypes and lineweights to your convention
- Consistent text and dimension styles across every sheet
- Blocks named and structured the way your office uses them
- Standards applied identically across a whole set, not sheet by sheet
Pricing
AIA, BS 1192 and AS/NZS 1100 are included in every conversion at no extra cost. Applying your own custom in-house standard adds 15% to the job. This service is applied to conversion work rather than sold on its own. If you have existing DWG files that need restandardising, send them through the form and we'll price it.
Common questions
What if I don't have a documented layer standard?
Send us a DWG drawn the way your office normally works and we'll infer the convention from it: layer names, colours, text styles, the lot. Most practices have a de facto standard without having written it down.
Can you restandardise DWG files I already have?
Yes. It isn't on the per-sheet rate card because effort depends heavily on how consistent the existing files are, so send a sample through the form and we'll price it.
Do you follow the AIA layer guidelines exactly?
We follow AIA layering conventions for discipline prefixes, major and minor groups. If you need strict compliance with a specific published edition, say so when you order and we'll confirm before starting.
